Record the route name and a current official map reference. List access, closures, daylight and weather as details to check close to departure. Include how the group will return and who needs to know the plan.

Choose the outing around the abilities and equipment of the group. Leave space for an alternative if conditions change. An old trip report is useful context, not confirmation of today's route conditions.
